Charles King Dip.S.C.Sur
Charles King is a qualified engineer who has completed his diploma in small craft surveying with the Lloyds Maritime Academy gaining distinction. He has a vast knowledge and practical experience of narrow boats and other steel vessels and is fully insured and qualified as a small craft surveyor.
Charles has had an interest in the waterways since childhood and his career in the leisure boating industry began when he was still at school, when during school holidays he would help out at the boatyard where his parents boat was moored.

He gained a BTEC national diploma in mechanical engineering, and following this worked for various machinery dealers and manufacturers where he gained a wealth of experience in a number of areas, including agriculture, renewable energy, inshore oil and gas production and, of course, the marine sector. His job took him all over the country and he regularly worked in the Midlands, Yorkshire, and North East Lincolnshire as well as commercial docks, and the ports of the tidal river Trent and Lincolnshire coast.

During his time as a marine engineer, working in a busy boatyard in the midlands, he has been used to working to surveyors recommendations and in this time carried out a large amount of welded hull repairs and over-plating. He is also experienced in carrying out superstructure modifications, engine replacements and repairs, gear box repairs, stern tubes and couplings, fit-outs and associated plumbing and electrics.
